So, I have a problem. When my husband and I combined our CDs a few years ago, a few KH/TM doubles emerged. Some of them are fairly common, regular runs, and some are more rare (The Curse, the Firepile eps, Murder, Misery, and Then Goodnight, etc.)

So, I've decided that since CASHmusic is in the middle of this fundraising drive, I'd like to sell/auction all of the doubles and donate the money to CASH. But I'm an awful seller since I do it so rarely, and I don't have any idea what the best way is to get the most money for the items. If I sell them on eBay, would it make sense to sell each item individually? (That seems like a bad move for some of the more common items, but I know the rare items will fetch more individually). Some of you are much more eBay savvy than I am- do you have any suggestions?

Would it be wiser to do a sort of closed auction just advertised among the fans here and on the other KH board? (Is there a way to do this that would cover all bases so everyone knows it's fair?)

Advise me, smart people!

If it is your objective to get as much cash for CASH as possible, then eBay auction, piece by piece may make more sense. The consumer base would be wider. If you just want to get some cash for CASH and put your dups in the hands of fans, then pimping the auction here and on the K.com site would be the best bet. Either way cash for CASH would be made. "Fair" is subjective. Either way, someone is going to "think" that the way you chose sucks. Most (those who are fans and support CASH) probably won't care either way. They would most likely just be tickled that K will have a little more cash in her CASH stash to keep the art coming. End of rant and pathetic alliteration.

I'm very interested in your Firepile cd's. Do you have both? Let us know when you put them up. Please and Thank you. DD

Thanks, Darrell. Usually I just give things to fellow-fans, but in this case I feel like I'm doing everyone more long-term good to get as much for CASH as possible. It seems like a more sustainable promise of even more KH for all of us in the future rather than just giving the CDs away (which was what I had initially intended).

I guess I need to gear up and try to set up some auctions. I'm off to a conference tomorrow, but when I get back I'll try and get everything online at once and I'll let you all know about the auctions. (I'm still hesitant to use eBay only because I want to make it clear that these auctions are actually for CASH and not profit, but I don't know how I can do that on eBay without a proxy or something so people don't just think I'm scamming them).

I hope this works out and doesn't end up being a bust that makes so little money it makes me wish I had just given them away!

Nice idea firepile

I've just been scanning eBay for other stuff (I'm selling prams so checking the competition), so had a look for KH and there are plenty of CDs to choose (over 250 items internationally) - especially regular releases. There are also currently many 'advance' versions listed.

It would seem that if you want to get the cut through on eBay, best to list the rarer (eg I didn't spot the Firepile EPs and the Cleaner Light Ep had a $35 asking price); although having said that, wherever you do sell, promote the sale everywhere you can.

I think Darrel nailed it. I wouldn't worry about people thinking you are scamming. There are much more profitable ways to scam :)

maybe just explain your motivation in the auction description put in some KH/CASH links, link the auctions here, etc and you are gold!

This kind of "proceeds to go to xxx" sale are not uncommon on ebay
