Points of contention.

Generally the coverage is paltry and restricted to one or two tracks per artist. Acts chosen are usually based on commercial radio or NME coverage.
More time than necessary is given over to sycophantic presenters and backstage acoustic sets by bands you wished you'd never heard of.
(our US cousins may be lucky enough to actually have never heard of them, in which case I deeply apologise for inflicting them on you)

Finally. due to some kind of awful scheduling cock up, Neil Young is referred to with due respect, but completely missing from the live coverage.

When will UK TV companies ever get to grips with their coverage of these events.

Last summer I watched footage of the IOW; T in the Park; Glastonbury; V festivals etc and all they ever played were the same 2 K T Tunstall songs from each festival, Exclusive backstage footage of K T Tunstall playing acoustic versions of the same 2 bloody songs, and around the site "wacky" goings on by all the "mad" festival goers, generally ignoring any artist of real talent.

Anyway, I am off to Glastonbury next week where I hope to see K T tunstall play her hit, acoustically in the backstage area.

Oh and the Pixies three tracks are on the Sunday 14th episodes.

Heck, at least you guys GET stuff like this. You have no idea how impossible that is to even imagine for Americans. MTV used to cover large festivals from time to time, but the "coverage" was typically their hosts blabbing endlessly and mugging for the camera, interspersed with a song or two from the stage. I only wish we got coverage like this, even if our festivals can't compare with yours...

Hi Scott

we used to complain of nil coverage of music in general, now we are, as you point out, quite spoilt by comparason.

I would suggest you check out the BBC website when glastonbury is on (25 - 28 June) as they will be broadcasting live and the website will offer on demand coverage too. I also get the impression mainland european tv channels are more likely to offer live concert footage.

anyway I'll stop my whinging and start to count my blessings, but if I have to hear any more about K T bloody Tunstall......
