wfmu broadcast throwing muses set from primavera sound in barcelona last night and i managed to capture their 128k mp3 stream. here 'tis for anyone who missed it (or anyone who wants to hear it again):

any weird noises or drop-outs are due to their transmission of the recording from barcelona to the studio not the stream capture (not that it matters).

there is a chance that wfmu may get to archive some sets from the festival but that's still to be determined. if that happens, i would expect them to archive the pre-broadcast recording so fingers crossed for that to happen with the muses!

Somewhat on topic, here's what my friend who was at the concert reported to me:

"And i didn't tell you, but i'm sure they will do something with that concert. It was HEAVILY recorded. They had three cameras: One on a HUGE crane, one on a dolly that walked all in front of the stage, and one on the back (kinda like audience camera). They played A LOT with them (the crane and the dolly almost cradhed a couple times XD), i'm sure they will release something."

I'm not counting on much, but it would be great if we got at least HQ audio... And a professional video recording would be just amazing. I listened to the ending of the webcast and parts of the capture and it sounded brilliant. Thanks for posting, by the way!

You are the man--and, if I have any say, hereby deemed the official archivist of all things K-related.

Thanks for doing this!

guys, here's good news for you:

Throwing Muses had the privilege to be broadcast LIVE on television on Friday night and don't worry cause even though i was at the festival i managed to record it and will be sharing a VOB file for you to burn to dvd one way or another tomorrow. The only bad thing is that they started broadcasting when they were 4 songs into their set, so "Shark", "Start", an AMAZING "Shimmer" and the fist half of "Hazing" are lost, but they usually rebroadcast many shows from the festival from time to time during the year, so here's hoping that it will be rebroadcast complete.

Well, the only songs that sounded a bit slow were "Shark" and "Tar Kissers" to me (killer "Mania" at the end, and beautiful rendition of "Vicky's Box"). Needless to say that after so many years thinking that i wouldn't live to see my favourite band play, to me it was a more than incredible show and i felt so happy in so many moments that i was close to tears of pure joy.

You know, to hear of Kristin or Throwing Muses, even, getting this sort of attention--to be on TV, even--blows my mind. Back here in the US, they can't get arrested, and I can count on two hands the number of people I've met in 20 years (aside from those attending live shows, etc.) who even know who they are.

I await this footage and am SO appreciative for the effort. Makes it a little easier to stomach only seeing them live once every three years or so in the last decade...

it is funny, we have complained for years about never getting to see (or buy) any professionally taped concerts of TM/KH. and then all of a sudden this meticulously-produced live video just appears out of nowhere- showcasing Throwing Muses with super-fancy lighting and elaborate flying camerawork.

- totally amazing that the band were able to make it through the songs with all those disco lights and flying cameras to distract them them.
- love the cameras swooping in close to K's fretboard. but maybe too close- you can clearly see the bandaged thumb.
- some lyric flubs, but who cares, this is Spain, nobody will notice, right?
- check out Bernie's expression during the first part of 'Pearl'.
- Love this rendition of 'Mania'. they had some fun with it, playing it looser and funkier than usual.

TM has consented to this show being archived by 'FMU - of course. Should be there before long...

Man, I've been behind and didn't realize the video was up. Downloading it now, and can't wait to see it.

Thanks, Woj. You really ARE the man, period (and you, too, SilverFrown)!
